I know there was mention of a new CD this year - but does anyone know if that's for sure? That would make this year all by itself imo :-p haha. Or is it recording on and off this year (because I know they're writing atm...) with an early 2013 release.

The writing for the new album is currently underway, so hopefully they can get it all recorded and released after all of the upcoming tour dates and before the end of the year.

I hope so. I know they're writing and touring at the moment, I just didn't know if the release would be this yr or next. I hope this year....2013 is tooooo far :-p lol. They need to hit while theirs some hype in the wake of Arch/Matheos, and now OSI.

These guys are my favorite band, period. Out of older and new stuff, these guys are number 1 on my personal list - so I'm hyped like a kid waiting for his favorite new toy to come in the mail :-p haha. Literally I'm so pumped that they're coming out with a Ray FW CD.

Off topic - But I can't wait for the Inside Out re-release. This could be an amazing yr musically if things go right :-p

Oh yeah - and FYI - BAND MEMBERS IF YOU READ YOUR FRIGGIN' BOARDS :-p - Tour the US after this next CD....PLEASE. I haven't been able to see you since the 90s. I can't fly to other states and drop everything for your rare US appearences You DO have fans here...if you did a full tour I think you'd be surprised. Just do it it's been too long.

I'm so irritated that I moved to FL at 25 (now I'm 38) because now they're playing that May 5th CT show...I so would've driven with friends to that. Now it's an impossibility. Sigh....you started here....you have fans here.....tour the US!!!!!!!!!

Sorry man, but I don't think they'd be that surprised by the turn out in other states. As you know, Fates hasn't been very active with releases lately. It's not practical for them to do a full tour in the US. Are you aware of the size of the bars they played in Texas recently? Sometimes you have to suck it up and accept that [air] travel is required--it's the only way I EVER get to see any band I like. Save your vacation days if you really have to drive, or save a couple hundred for a plane ticket which might be cheaper with the current cost of gas. It's what most people in our situation who really love a band have to do--and really, so many underground bands tour Florida that you sound spoiled to someone like me who lives in Arkansas, of all places...

If you could've driven to the May 5 show with friends had you not moved from wherever you lived before, you could probably fly to the show with just the clothes on your back for $200-500 from Florida ($240 for round trip coach from Orlando, for example) and be back Sunday afternoon like I will do from my understandably neglected state. If you've got dependents and no one to help out for a night, then driving with friends probably wouldn't have been an option even if you lived closer still. If sleep is required, you're too old

I'm well aware of their standing and what they need to do as a band who doesn't put out albums every other year. There are many their size that do hit half the states at least.

Florida? A good underground scene? Haha. You must be thinking of California. Not here, not good prog or metal. Every now and then we get a decent tour, and I'm there.

As far as driving and or flying - Time. If I lived home with mommy and daddy I might be able to shrug off 'life', but as it stands that time as passed. Besides, you missed the point entirely. They have fans, people that want to and will come to see them. I think they go where they're comfortable for the last 6-7 years. Where they know they can draw larger crowds.

But if they hit while the momentum from Arch/Matheos + a new FE CD coming out, they could generate buzz and do a decent tour of the US. I never said hit every state 5 times. But you can hit the main ones, easily.

A couple tours? I get none. I watch tour dates, and I'd be more than happy to live in Florida concert-wise.

Like I said, if you have the time to drive with friends 'if you hadn't moved,' you have the 24 or fewer hours to fly out to see this band you're whining about not touring enough. If you still have 'friends,' then I bet you can free 24 hours up even if you have a kid or two.

There's something else: the guys are getting older, they're accomplished, some of them have other jobs, all of them have other bands. They don't necessarily WANT to tour that much. The 'BAND MEMBERS IF YOU READ YOUR FRIGGIN' BOARDS' certainly aren't going to be swayed by this garbage. Suck it up and quit whining, kiddo. You want it that bad, free up 24 hours. If that's beyond the realm of possibility, just stop whining as it won't change anything.
